Verona Concepts Spring Summer 2022 - White Peace Trucker Cap - Featuring Capone Shirt in the background and unreleased cardholder

Consisting of three key pieces and displaying a keen focus on pairing  luxury quality with designs reminiscent of 80’s Miami, the SS23 menswear collection paves the way to securing Verona Concepts’ positioning in the minds of fashion insiders as a emerging player in the industry.

Set against a backdrop of poolside palm trees as the sun begins to rise, Miamis highrollers leave the casino’s private back room illuminated with fluorescent neon lights, whilst clouds of cigar smoke follow them back to gated mansions where they sit comfortably, shirts undone, with their friends around a table until they retire for the night.”

Upon designing the collection, Verona Concepts’ team of designers drew inspiration from an aesthetic derived from a collision of Baz Luhrmann’s presentation of Verona in his 1996 film Romeo + Juliet alongside visions of 80’s Miami through the eyes of the decade’s most notorious.

When designing the ‘GUNSHINE’ T-shirt Verona Concepts’ designers set out to make the next generation of souvenir t-shirts, taking inspiration from the now weathered t-shirts of the ‘80s. Produced using Verona Concepts’ custom designed hand printing process on the finest heavyweight 210GSM cotton fabric, each t-shirt is designed to have a relaxed oversized fit and each motif bares slight variations in the intensity of it’s finish, ensuring every piece is entirely unique. The printing process entails using a plastisol-based ink to produce the ‘GUNSHINE’ motif, which situates the lifestyle from 1980s Miami within modern day culture through drawing parallels between the Florida state outline and its gun crime rate. The motif is then cured at a carefully controlled temperature through a technique that transforms each t-shirt to be a platform to crack and fade gently over time, ageing similarly to their vintage counterparts.

Verona Concepts’ bespoke hand printing technique also comes into play with the ‘PEACE’ Trucker Cap. Consisting of five panels with a white front and contrasting lightweight black mesh back featuring a matching black snap fastening, the style captures the essence of vintage trucker caps from the ‘80s. The parodied motif hand printed on the front of the ‘PEACE’ Cap reflects on the decision of the decades high rollers to pursue a life of luxury at the cost of peace within the Miami vicinity.

The third and final piece of Verona Concepts’ SS22 collection pays homage to one of America’s most notorious high rollers. With an all over print of the Miami residence of Al Capone, the ‘CAPONE’ Shirt has been crafted in the finest 120GSM lightweight fabric through a custom Cut & Sew manufacturing process. Designed with short sleeves and a relaxed fit and intended to be styled either button or unbuttoned, the garment replicates the business-casual style of dress synonymous with ‘80s Miami’s wealthiest.

Verona Concepts has designed this collection with carefully considered fabrics of the highest quality with comfort and longevity in mind. Extensive research and experimentation has gone into the production of each piece ensuring  they will get even better with time  the more it wears, and we believe it is a great step in combatting fast fashion by taking a stance of creating longevity . Each garment develops with a unique story after purchase it ages uniquely.
